The first month of 2017 has come to a close and I am SO excited to share my new selection of monthly favorites! As an avid YouTube Beauty Vlogger aficionado, I love watching monthly favorites videos to learn about recently launched products or indie brands that I may not ever see in an everyday drugstore or the high-end Sephora aisles.
I sincerely hope you enjoy reading my mini-reviews on each and every product that won my respect during the month of January!
Let’s start with:
I first heard about this product from Jaclyn Hill, a popular YouTuber and beauty expert, then became super intrigued with her claims that it doesn’t smudge and the formula was apparently amazing for people with watery eyes (a.k.a, me). I never truly took it upon myself to seek this eyeliner out, however, once I saw it online and noticed that it was only $20, I had no choice but to purchase it. Let me tell you – I am so happy that I did! The Ardency Inn Modster Eyeliner is pitch black and has the smoothest application I’ve ever experienced from a pencil eyeliner. Also, the longevity and smudge-proof claims are very much true! I wear this eyeliner on days when I know I’ll be out and about. I am living proof that it definitely holds up after a full eight-hour day of work, plus an afternoon at the mall and a late dinner date with friends!
OH MY GOD – I don’t even know where to start. . . The Amore Matte Lip Cremes by Milani Cosmetics are literally God’s gift to the makeup world. I debated on ordering these online since the day they launched and I never did, however, I always saw my favorite YouTubers raving about them and I felt like I was missing out on something amazing by not trying them. Finally, these beauties came into my life by surprise – I was running to CVS to pick up a few groceries and that’s where I saw the beautiful Milani display with only three liquid lipsticks left! You know damn well your girl bought the last three and I am beyond proud of my purchase.
The formula of these liquid lipsticks is smoother than silk and they actually dry completely matte! It’s one of my biggest pet peeves when liquid lipsticks are advertised as having a ” matte finish ” but still leave a shine. I HIGHLY recommend the Milani Amore Matte Lip Cremes – they earned the hype and I cannot say enough good things about them! They are available in 8 different shades, I personally own the shades: Fabulous, Devotion, and Loved.
Check out my last post, #POSHNATION The Seller Stylist Tour SD @ SummerSalt Rooftop Pool & Lounge to see a few pictures where I’m rocking the shade, Fabulous.

If you only have the chance to pick up one eyeshadow palette this season – get this one!
The ABH Modern Renaissance palette is one of my favorites for when I want to create . . . pretty much any look! My eyes are a medium honey brown and the shades in this palette do SUCH a great job of complimenting them. In fact, I would dare say that if you have chocolate brown eyes, unique hazel eyes, or honey colored eyes that this is the palette you should gravitate to – it was practically made for us! The only downside to this product is the amount of kickback you receive once you dip your brush in, but that is relatively standard with most any highly pigmented eyeshadow. For reference, my favorite eyeshadow shades in the palette are:
- Burnt Orange
- Venetian Red
- Golden Ochre
I’m sure you’ve heard this palette get reviewed time and time again by every YouTuber known to man, but trust me when I say that IT IS THE SHIT. I 104% plan to repurchase it when I hit pan on all of my favorite shades!
Last, but not least:
The MAC Cosmetics Pro Longwear Waterproof Foundation has been in my makeup collection for so very long – I think I was in high school or barely starting college when this first launched! I can remember being crazy excited when I found out MAC created a waterproof formula because I used to have a HUGE problem with foundation breaking up and creating patchy areas on my forehead and chin due to sweat and hot San Diego summer days. This was one of the first foundations that drove me to watch YouTube tutorials and reviews because I wanted to make sure it was worth the price. At this time, I’m pretty sure I had only purchased and worn drugstore foundations and I didn’t even have a job so I had to convince my mom or my boyfriend or someone with cash to buy it for me. . .
Long story short – I fell back in love with this foundation this past month because I totally forgot how remarkably natural and airbrushed it looked on my skin, even over acne and imperfections! This foundation is definitely a keeper.
