Hello friends and fam!
I hope everyone had an amazing start to their fall season. Time is certainly flying by for me, as you can probably tell from the fact that it’s October 1st when I am posting this. Regardless of my lack of attention to life, it is finally time for me to unveil my beauty and skin care faves for the month of September!
September was a pretty interesting month for me, to say the least. As mentioned in my previous post, I’ve Got A War In My Mind, I am officially a freelance photographer! I’ve only been away from my full-time office job for a short time, but I’m so happy with the decision and don’t plan to return to the white-collar grind anytime soon. I’m an artist, for heaven’s sake! (tone it down much? lol)
Anyway, without further adu, let’s jump in and talk about beauty:
I swear roses can do no wrong! I am drop dead OBSESSED with this face oil. You can call it fate (because I do) that my absolute favorite flower also happens to be a great ingredient for skin care. I love how nourishing this oil feels as you massage it into your skin. My preference is to use at least five drops to coat my entire face after I finish using a detoxing mask.
This is the first product I’ve ever used from Pixi Beauty but I’m definitely excited to try more after this oil! If you’re a fan of roses and hydrated skin – I highly recommend. Yes, yes.
Ok, I would not be a quality beauty blogger if I did not haul ass to Sephora after the release of Rihanna’s new cosmetics line, Fenty Beauty. I am SO fortunate to have gotten my hands on her exclusive items. My favorite happens to be this lovely little trio which consists of a cream highlight, matte contour, and matte concealer.
TBH, I’m not the biggest fan of the concealer because I find it a bit difficult to blend and it just doesn’t provide enough coverage for my liking – however – the cream contour and highlight are EVERYTHING! This was my first experience ever straying from powder contour/highlight and I am very impressed. The cream contour is the perfect shade for someone with a warm fair complexion and the highlight is just stunning af. I recently wore the cream highlight to a rave and I received nonstop compliments on my makeup!
A++ for Rihanna
It goes without saying that my acne has been a struggle for the past few years and lately my skin has been giving me an extra hard time. I try my best to use products that won’t irritate my sensitive skin and I think I might’ve found a little drugstore treasure!
To be perfectly blunt, face primers are one of the few beauty items I usually never, ever purchase from the drugstore. I am the kind of person that will shell out the money for a high-end primer, but given my new financial situation (I’m a broke bitch, ok!), I’ve decided to give this affordable option an honest try. I can’t say that it’s totally changed my mind on drugstore primers, but I am happy with this particular one from E.L.F and I definitely plan to repurchase!
My absolute favorite thing about using this mascara is when people ask if it lives up to the name. . .
I don’t know that I could ever truly compare having full, voluminous lashes to having sex, but I definitely like this mascara! It’s incredibly pigmented and I like the formula because it adds A LOT of volume to your top lashes. The only downside for me is the fact that you have to use a different mascara on your bottom lashes because the brush is too chunky. Oh! Also, I’m not huge on the green color of the tube. Minor fluke, but I have an aesthetic going, you know! Come on, Too Faced.
It’s no secret that I, Perla Chase, am I red lipstick connoisseur. I literally own at least six different shades of red and I am still not satisfied. There are still dozens of brands and shades that I want to try, but I am obscenely happy to have finally crossed Lady Balls by Too Faced off my list.
I finally decided to invest in this liquid lipstick after seeing SO many of my favorite Instagram beauty influencers wear it. The shade is a great true red hue and it looks amazing on literally everyone. I’m also lowkey in love with the packaging – not just the little carton that everyone ends up throwing away, but the actual applicator wand is literal *perfection*. I wish every brand just used the same packaging as Too Faced. Life would be much easier and there’d be a lot less fuck ups too (in the makeup world, at least)!
I hope you guys enjoyed reading my September beauty and skincare faves! I promise I’ll be more on top of it this month! Have a wonderful October 🙂
